Eight minors rescued

DIBRUGARH, Nov 26 - At least eight working children were rescued by Childline, Tinsukia team from various commercial establishments of Tinsukia Daily Bazar today.

These boys, most of them in the age group 11-14 years, were mostly working in shops and hotels. The Childine team comprising Adity Patowary, Jurina Phukan, Amarjit Chetia and Biraj Borgohain were keeping vigil on the violation of the rights of these children for the past few days before rescuing them today, sources from Childline informed.

Labour Inspector Harinarayan Saraniya and police personnel of the Tinsukia Sadar Thana provided necessary support in the rescue of these children. Following the rescue, the children were taken to the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Civil Hospital, Tinsukia for medical examination and thereafter in consultation with the Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Tinsukia are now transferred to the Children Home at Rupai for temporary shelter.
