Drugs seized in Manipur

IMPHAL, Feb 21 - Assam Rifles troops under the aegis of the Headquarters of Inspector General, Assam Rifles (South), recovered drugs worth Rs 1.22 crore and Rs 1.31 crore on February 19 and 20 respectively, a press release stated.

On the basis of specific inputs, Assam Rifles personnel recovered suspected WIY tablets and brown sugar at Moreh town and from a Maruti Alto car at the Tengnoupal Sita Road Junction respectively, said Public Relations Officer, Headquarters, Inspector General, Assam Rifles (South), Imphal, in a press release on Thursday.

The contraband items were being transported to Imphal, the release added. Persons detained in this connection and the recovered items have been handed over to the Moreh Police Station and the Tengnoupal Police Station for further investigation.
