Drive to shelter homeless people

GUWAHATI, Oct 24 � As part of an effort to provide shelter to homeless people, the Kamrup Metro district administration recently undertook an initiative under which many such persons found living on the footpaths near Sukreswar Ghat were taken for a health check-up at the MMC Hospital and later sent to various homes for the shelterless across the city.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of L Saharia, Circle Officer of Guwahati, said an official statement.

It was conducted in collaboration with the district Social Welfare and Health department officials.
