Drive against vendors yields Rs 18,500 fine

GUWAHATI, April 23 - The Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation and Guwahati Municipal Corporation today jointly conducted a drive and seized poultry, fish, vegetables, eggs and fruits from unauthorised vendors from different parts of the city.

During the drive, 50 kg poultry, 10 kg fish, 30 kg vegetables, five plates of eggs and 20 kg fruit were seized and a total amount of Rs 18,500 was collected as fine.

�The drive was conducted at Dispur, Beltola Survey, Beltola Tiniali, Beltola Bazar, Jayanagar Chariali, Six Mile, VIP Road, Basistha Chariali and Latakata at Basistha. We also checked the social distancing norms, round marking, use of masks, licence, permission, price listing and hygiene of the allotted vendors,� a source in the GMC said.
