GUWAHATI, May 30 The Kamrup Metro district transport authority is going to conduct an enforcement drive for city autorickshaws from June 1 regarding the issues of fare meter installation as well as rationalisation of auto fares, illegal plying and violation of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The drive will be undertaken as a follow-up to the decision taken during the meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) earlier this month, said an official statement.
The Transport Department had fixed the fare of petrol-driven passenger autorickshaws in October, 2013. But there were complaints that the autorickshaw drivers do not follow the rates fixed by the Government and are arbitrarily taking money from customers.
