�Dr Hazarika introduced Assam to the world�

NAGAON, Sept 8 - Various organisations of the district today observed the 93rd birth anniversary of musical maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika with a variety of programmes and paid floral tributes to him. Competitions on his evergreen creations were also organised.

Silpi Somaj, Asom, a Statewide cultural organisation today observed the day centrally at Nehrubali field. The programme which began this morning will continue for three days. The president of the organisation, renowned actor Nipon Goswami hoisted its flag at Nehrubali. Goswami in his speech said that Dr Hazarika was that great son of the soil who introduced Assam to the world and appealed to the new generation to strengthen Assamese nationalism by following the path showed by the great soul.

Meanwhile, mega competitions on Dr Hazarika�s songs and music were held among the children at Nehrubali.

On the other hand, child lover Dulal Bora, singer Nayanjyoti Saikia, literary pensioner, Mulan Laskar under the banner of Akonir Sahitya Sabha and Gana Natya Sangha also organised a special camp on Dr Hazarika�s songs and music at Nagaon Swahid Bhavan where hundreds of participants took part and sung the songs of the great musical maestro. A book on Dr Hazarika was distributed among the participants at the end of the camp.
