Doul Utsav begins at Bordua with traditional fervour

NAGAON, Feb 28 - Doul Utsav began at Bordua, the birth place of saint Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva, from today. The five-day festival includes Gandhautsav, followed by Ram Dhemali.

A Satriya cultural programme will be held tomorrow on the occasion, which will be attended by Assam Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami, Asam Satra Mahasabha president Jitendra Pradhani and other political leaders.

The Guhai Furua Utsav will be held on March 2. The festival organiser is expecting a congregation of nearly 5 lakh devotees in the festival.

On the other hand, Nagaon DC Bishawjit Pegu declared March 2 a local holiday in view of the Doul Utsav.
