Donations pour in for COVID-19 fund in Jorhat

JORHAT, April 8 - The employees of Asom Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission of Jorhat district has donated one-day�s salary amounting to Rs 85,492 to Assam Arogya Nidhi to fight novel coronavirus.

A delegation of the employees on Tuesday handed over a cheque of the same amount to Jorhat Additional Deputy Commissioner Bipul Das. Meanwhile, Gopal Jhawar, a local businessman on Tuesday handed over a cheque of Rs 51,000 to Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati for the Jorhat DC Covid-19 Relief Fund. Another businessman dealing in tea sector Kamal Jalan too donated Rs 51,000 in cash to the Jorhat Deputy Commissioner for the Jorhat DC Covid-19 Relief Fund.

In the meantime, the Jorhat Theatre, a socio-cultural organisation, donated Rs 15,000 to Assam Arogya Nidhi to fight novel coronavirus on Wednesday. A delegation of the organisation handed over a cheque in this regard to Assam Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami at the Jorhat Circuit House. Proprietors of a business enterprise � M/s BL Agarwalla, handed over a cheque of Rs 3 lakh to Goswami, who is also the Jorhat MLA, to the Assam Arogya Nidhi. A donation of Rs 10,000 from Assam Brahman Samaj, Jorhat unit, and Rs 20,000 from Borbheta Sarbajanin Puja Mandir towards Assam Arogya Nidhi by the representatives of the organisations.
