District-level competition held

SILAPATHAR, Sept 17 - The district-level competition of Aryabhatta Science Centre, Dhemaji district, under Assam Science Technology and Environment Council was held on September 15 at Silapathar Junior Science College.

A colourful procession of students among schools within the Silapathar area was taken out on the occasion. Certificates and prizes were awarded to the winners of the schools namely � Silapathar Town Girl�s ME, Silapathar Don Bosco High School, Silapathar Lord Macaulay High School.

The inaugural session was presided over by Bajranath Boruah, president GB Silapathar Jr Science College. The programme was hoisted by Dr AK Doley, District Coordinator, Aryabhatta Science Centre, Dhemaji.

The programme was inaugurated by Bhaskar Pegu, Dhemaji ADC-cum-Nodal Officer, ASC, Dhemaji. Pabitra Chiring, principal of Silapathar Jr Science College delivered the welcome speech to the gathering.

The programme was attended by Dhiren Gogoi, principal of Sripani HS School, Bijoy Konwar, Science teacher of Betonipam ME School, Block Coordinators, teachers, and participants from all blocks of Dhemaji, students from various schools.

In the extempore speech competition, Riturina Gogoi from Bordoloni Block, Biswajyotishmana Chutia from Dhemaji Block and Marami Devi from Bordoloni Block bagged the first, second and third positions, respectively.

In the drawing competition, Bashab Raj Chutia from Dhemaji Block, Rajdeep Dutta from Machkhowa Block, Deepshika Boruah from Bordoloni Block bagged the first, second and third positions, respectively.

In the model-making competition, Himanshu Agrawal�s model � automatic water reservoir � from Machkhowa Block, Dristilina Borgohain�s model � self-sufficient eco-friendly house � from Dhemaji Block and Rinkumoni Rai�s model bagged the first, second and third, respectively.
