BARAMA, Sept 4 � The BTC Teachers� Coordination Committee has alleged that the teachers of the BTAD are often neglected by the Directorate of Secondary Education for the State awards presented on Teachers� Day every year. This again came to the fore when the list for the State teacher awards for 2014 was published yesterday.
Sources said that nobody from the BTAD was found eligible for the State awards, though a few eligible teachers had applied along with required documents. It is learnt that one Rohini Kanta Medhi was originally selected by the State Selection Committee, but his name was left out and one Md Habibur Rahman, a teacher from Barpeta district, was included in his place, allegedly by the Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam.
Along with Rohini Medhi of Baksa, Pona Devi Mahanta of Morigaon was allegedly left out after being originally chosen for the State teacher awards.
The Baksa District High School Teachers� Association has also expressed serious concern over the indifferent attitude of the Directorate of Secondary Education towards BTC school teachers. Meanwhile, the BTC High School Teachers� Coordination Committee has urged the higher authorities of the Education Department to look into the list prepared by the Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam, to detect any discrepancies. The committee has alleged that the list deprives deserving candidates from schools under the BTC.
It has also been alleged that teachers from some districts figure in the awards list every year, but those from the BTC districts are ignored.
