Directive on Biswakarma idols

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, Sept 12 As part of its initiative to keep roads and public places in the city clean, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has made arrangement for disposal of all Biswakarma Puja idols at a centralised location after the rituals are over on September 17. The civic body has fixed a place near Neptune Cinema Hall, Beltola, for this purpose.

Generally, after the puja is over some people have a tendency to dump the idols on some road-side, drain, stream or other such places. We want to discourage such practices, said an official.

He added that anybody flouting the directive would have to face action as per relevant civic laws.
