Dipak Dahal remembered

UDALGURI, May 1 - The All Assam Gorkha Students� Union (AAGSU) on Sunday joined the adyashraddha ceremony of Dipak Dahal, its former organising secretary and former president of Udalguri district committee of AAGSU at his Khamtubari village residence under Mazbat police station and offered floral tributes to the departed student leader.

The students' organisation also arranged a condolence meeting to this effect anchored by Purna Kirat Rai, president of the Udalguri district committee of the students' organisation where Pushpadhar Sarmah, principal of Udalguri HS School released a memoir entitled Dipak on the occasion while Gayatri Bhattarai, working president of Udalguri district committee of Asom Nepali Sahitya Sabha initiated the floral tribute paying ceremony, which was attended by dozens of social and students' organisations of the district including the members from Udalguri Bar Association and Sanjiv Chetry, general secretary of AAGSU with a large number of members from central committee of AAGSU.

It is to be noted that Dipak Dahal was one of the popular AAGSU leaders of Assam since 2008 till date and served the Gorkha students' body as president of Udalguri district committee of AAGSU from 2009 to 2013 and was the organising secretary from 2014 to 2016. He later joined as an advocate at Udalguri civil court and earned immense popularity in his legal profession and through his social activities. He died of asthma at the age of 37 and leaves behind his parents, wife, a minor daughter, two brothers and a host of relatives.
