Dimasa bodies stage dharna

HAFLONG, Oct 16 - The Dimasa Women�s Society in association with All Dimasa Students� Union staged a dharna in protest against the Government�s decision to implement the Panchayat Raj in the 6th scheduled areas and setting up of detention camp in Dima Hasao.

Later, the members of the organisations submitted memoranda to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Assam urging them to revoke the decision in this regard.

In the memoranda, the leaders appealed to the Government not to implement the Panchayat Raj system in the Sixth scheduled areas in greater interest of the people. �We have also opposed the setting up of detention camps in the district as the camps will foment trouble in the near future,� the leaders said.
