Dhanabir clinches GTC chess title

GUWAHATI, Oct 12 - Y Dhanabir Singh of Manipur clinched the 2nd edition of the GTC Classic Chess Rs 2 lakh prize-money tournament which concluded here today.

In the last round he drew his game with state mate RK Bhogen Singh. While in the second board A Chakrilombi Singh drew with young prodigy Shahil Dey which ensured him the second position but pushed Shahil to the 11th spot in the final ranking list. Th Nabachandra Singh who is also from Manipur got the better of Subrata Nandy Roy of Silchar to secure the third position.

The Prize distribution ceremony was attended by Pabitra Khaund, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare; Pallab Hazarika, assistant director, Postal Services; Mukul Gogoi, vice president, GTC; Pranab Sarma, vice president, GTC, among others.
