Deadline for mandatory Covid testing extended in Jorhat

JORHAT, Aug 11 - The Jorhat District Magistrate by an order issued on Tuesday has extended the deadline of mandatory testing for Covid-19 by owners and employees of shops and business establishments to August 20.

It may be mentioned here that the district administration in an order issued on Friday had stated that shops/business establishments will be allowed to open daily from August 10 from Monday to Friday in a week and also cautioned of not allowing to operate from August 13 if owners and employees did not conduct the mandatory Covid-19 test.

On Sunday, it may be mentioned here that there was heavy rush of people, mostly shopkeepers and employees at the Rapid Antigen Test Screening Centre at the Marwari Thakurbari at AT Road as panic-stricken traders and their staff wanted to get the test done as early as possible to meet the administration deadline.

The DM order further stated that Additional Deputy Commissioner Sultana Akhtara would be overall in charge of Covid-19 in Jorhat district and ensure mandatory testing among owners and employees of shops and business establishments as per existing protocols.
