Darrang district Krishak Sangha formed

MANGALDOI, April 30 � With a view to looking into various socio-economic problems faced by the farmer community of Darrang, a district level committee of Krishak Sangha was formed at a farmers� representative meeting held recently at Darrangjyoti High School at Pakabangipara village near here.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of veteran farmer Ramijuddin Ahmed was attended by farmers from different parts of the district like Kopati, Kharupetia, Daipam, Bechimari, Namkhola, Sipajhar, Kholihoi, Aulachowka, Dhula, Tangni, Ramhari, Mudoibori, Majgaon, Chapai, etc.

The meeting unanimously elected a 31-member district committee with Hiren Deka as president,Ajijul Haque as working president and Sailen Saikia as the general secretary. The meeting also discussed many issues related to the farmers, especially lack of adequate irrigation facility and decided to pinpoint the problems in the respective localities to prepare a master plan on the issue.
