GUWAHATI, April 20 � The 2nd Airtel North East Sports Festival�s Harendranath Barua 7-a-side football tournament started today with 4 football matches being played at the Nehru Stadium here today. In the opening match, Dainik Batori thrashed The Sentinel 6-0. The goals came from Nayanjyoti Nath, Nayan Pratim Kumar, James, each scoring 2 goals.
In the second match, Shillong Press Club defeated GL Publications 3-0. Kharsen Sawpine, P Danjop Mukhim and Helpiswell L Marshillong were the scorers for the Shillong outfit.
In the last match of the day, Newslive beat Janambhumi 3-2. This encounter was a fast paced one with both teams exhibiting attacking football. for Newslive, Sunil Bora scored one and Madan Hajong scoring two goals. Gautam Bora reduced one for Janambhumi. DY365 got a walk-over in their match against Edinor Sangbad.
The sports festival will be formally inaugurated tomorrow.
