GUWAHATI, Aug 24 � With a view to deal with the high level of traffic congestions and haphazard parking of vehicles resulting in inconvenience to the general public and increased noise levels, the Kamrup Metro district administration has prohibited parking of vehicles at certain major stretches in the city.
The areas where this prohibition has been introduced under Section 144 of CrPC are on the roads passing through the Gauhati High Court and District & Sessions Courts, Guwahati, and DC Office, the road from the Panbazar Flyover (near Vishal Mega Mart) up to the entrance of ASTC Bus Stand at Paltanbazar and from the Bhangagarh flyover to GMCH.
The administration has also prohibited any vending by roadside traders on these stretches. The Commissioner of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Guwahati City, have been asked to ensure strict compliance of the order.
