GUWAHATI, March 25 - The Communist Party of India (CPI) today released its manifesto for the ensuing Assembly elections with special thrust on solving the unemployment problem, proper NRC, ST status to six communities in Assam, agriculture development and strengthening the panchayat system.

In the Left alliance that has been formed to find an alternative to the Congress and BJP, the CPI is fighting on 15 seats. The party manifesto has also included the issue of unorganized sector of labourers in its manifesto.

In the prevailing circumstances, where people are disillusioned with the ruling Congress, and divisive communal politics by the BJP is also evident, people should vote for candidates who can be the best alternative to these two parties and their alliance, said CPI leader Munin Mahanta addressing the media after the manifesto release.

The party also requested the Election Commission to take stringent measures to check the use of black money in the election. It also asked for seizure all illegal arms, especially in the BTC areas to avoid any untoward incident.

Whereas the Congress is trying to lure the voters with distributing blankets and mosquito nets, the BJPs Achche Din has turned into a farce, with the capitalists getting the ultimate gain from the government policies. On the other hand, the common people are still fighting with the spiralling prices of the essential commodities, growing intolerance in the country, where even the right to express is under threat, said Mahanta, who is also the a CPI candidate from Marigaon.

Advocating ST status to the six communities, the party manifestoes also supported peaceful negotiation with the separatist groups, who want to come on the discussion table.

We want an updated NRC and expulsion of the illegal foreigners on the basis of the Assam Accord. We also oppose the Union Governments stand of giving citizenship to Hindu Bangladeshi migrants, he added.

Issues of unemployment problem, crafts development, flood and erosion, agriculture development, environment protection, transport development, good governance, women and childrens rights, accessible education for all among other also found a mention the CPIs manifesto.
