COVID-19 patient tests negative

AIZAWL, May 5 - With Mizoram�s lone COVID-19 patient testing negative, Mizoram has now become free of coronavirus. The 50-year-old patient � a pastor who was admitted to hospital on March 24 � tested negative for the fourth time in a row.

�His samples were collected on four consecutive days and sent to the Silchar Medical College on May 1. The results arrived on Monday night and all of them are negative,� State Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana said today. As the patient is physically weak, he will remain in hospital for a few more days, he added.

The pastor had returned to Aizawl from Amsterdam on March 16. He tested positive for COVID-19 on March 24, becoming the second positive case in the North East after Manipur.
