Cotton College alumni meet on April 4-5

GUWAHATI, March 28 � The Cotton College Alumni Association is holding a two-day meet of the former students of the historic college from April 4 next. The meet will formally start at 5 pm of April 4 at the Cotton College Indoor Stadium, said a press release.

On April 5, a day-long programme of the meet has been chalked out, said the press release issued by the general secretary of the Alumni Association, Dr Satyendra Kumar Choudhury.

On the first day, 115 ex-Cottonians will present a chorus.

On the second day, former best singers of the college will perform in the meet and an interactive session has also been planned for the day, said Choudhury.

Meanwhile, a good number of the ex-Cottonians have started rehearsal of the song Cotton College, which was penned by Dr Bhupen Hazarika, during the centenary celebration of the college. Dr Tilottama Barua is supervising the rehearsal.

The Alumni Association president, Justice (Retired) Prabhat Phukan, general secretary Dr Choudhury and its coordinator Jagadish Dutta have made an appeal to all the former Cottonians to attend the meet in great numbers.

The office of the Association, in the old building of the Cotton College Library, is being kept open these days from 2 pm to 7 pm to accelerate the meet�s preparation-related activities, said Dr Choudhury.
