Cong activists detained by police

AGARTALA, Aug 19 � At least 6,000 activists of opposition Congress were today detained here for taking part in a �non- violent civil disobedience movement� to press for 25 point charter of demands.

DIG (Police Control), Nepal Das said, the activists were demonstrating before the police headquarters and at least 6,000 activists of the opposition Congress were detained and subsequently released. But no untoward incident was reported.

Former President of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee Birajit Sinha said, the civil disobedience movement was organised to press for 25 point of charter of demands which included stopping crime against women, providing more jobs under MGNREGA scheme, jobs to unemployed youths. � PTI
