GUWAHATI, July 25 - A complicated major hepatectomy surgical procedure was performed successfully at the city-based Down Town Hospital recently by a multi-disciplinary team, said a statement released today.

A 35-year-old lady was admitted to the hospital with a complaint of severe abdominal pain. She had been suffering from the pain for the last few months.

On evaluation and investigation, the patient was diagnosed with hepatolithiasis, i.e. multiple stones in the liver extensively in the left lobe with impairment of liver function.

As the hospital is well equipped for all major liver surgeries, the team decided to perform left hepatectomy or resection of left lobe of the liver with clearance of stones from the right lobe liver as well, said the statement.

The team that carried out the resection included Dr NN Das, Dr Arnab Barua, Dr Krishnali Hazarika and Dr Krishna Acharyya and other staff members, the statement said.
