CMs of mountainous States to meet in Shimla today

NEW DELHI, Oct 4 - The chief ministers of at least eight mountainous States will meet for two days in Shimla from Friday to discuss various common issues being faced by them, officials said.

Those who are expected to attend the meeting include the Chief Ministers of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. An official will represent Jammu and Kashmir, which is under the President�s rule.

Union minister Kiren Rijiju will attend the meeting as the representative of the Central Government, an official said. Issues related to development of border areas, construction of roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, etc., are expected to be discussed in the meeting, the official added. � PTI
