CM�s free diagnostic services launched

HAILAKANDI, March 28 - Chief Minister�s free diagnostic services was formally launched in SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi.

The scheme was inaugurated by Hailakandi MLA, Anwar Hussain Laskar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ruth Lienthang and District BJP President, Subrata Kumar Nath recently.

The Chief Minister�s free diagnostic services is envisaged to ensure availability of minimum set of diagnostic services at government-run health institutions. Under the programme, CT scan, X-ray and laboratory services are provided free of cost to all, irrespective of Above the Poverty Line (APL) or Below the Poverty Line (BPL) status citizens.

Laskar while hailing the Government�s new initiative, urged the health practitioners to ensure quality in their services.

Terming the latest initiative of the State government as yet another remarkable step in the health sector, district BJP president Nath said that the scheme will greatly benefit the poor and marginalised segments of the society.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Lienthang asked the people to come forward to avail the laboratory services offered free of cost and to file complaints with the district administration if anyone asked for money.

Prominent among those present on the occasion were Joint Director, Heath, Dr Abhijit Basu and Superintendent, SK Roy Civil Hospital, Sudip Kumar Chakraborty.

PHCs of Algapur, Lala, Kalinagar, Katlicherra, Mohonpur and Dholai can also avail the laboratory services free of cost.

Grievance Redressal Day: Public Grievance Redressal Day will be observed every Tuesday by the Hailakandi district administration.

Disclosing this, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi Adil Khan said that the day will be observed every Tuesday starting from April 3 to empower people to get their grievances redressed within a specific time-frame.

�Every day I receive scores of letters and memoranda from members of the public and organizations relating to complaints against different departments. So I have decided to put in place a mechanism where people can talk about their problems directly with officials who can take down complaints and forward it to the departments concerned if they cannot be resolved on the spot,� he said, adding that tracking of complaints received would be monitored regularly so that they are disposed off without delay.

Every Tuesday, the process will begin with registration at 9.30 am followed by hearing of public grievances by the officials. The district heads will have to be present in order to resolve the matter on the spot. In cases, where it is not possible, the departments concerned will fix up a schedule for disposing off the matter.

As part of governance and administrative reforms, the process, besides offering speedy redressal of grievances, also gives an opportunity to review the performance and progress of various government schemes and projects implemented by different departments at the ground level. Anyone or any group of people can file complaint for redressal of grievances with regard to various schemes or programmes run by government.
