RANGIYA, Dec 28 - �Our students are our future. It is their primary duty to study meticulously so as to fulfil their aims in order to stand as a responsible citizen of India,� said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal here this afternoon in his inaugural speech as the chief guest while attending the golden jubilee function of Tulsibari Bahumukhi HS School of Rangiya urging the student community to shun all evil or violent paths.
�Any violent or illegal step taken by the students will hamper their studies only and subsequently their bright future. There is no substitute for them except to devote their minds in study and not to deviate to other unwanted activities,� he said further urging them to focus on their primary duty for the sake of peace and tranquility of the country. He did not directly speak about the anti-CAA agitations by different student bodies in the state in the recent past.
The Chief Minister earlier complemented the host school for its long run in serving the students coming mostly from rural areas. On the occasion a souvenir was also released. State Minister of Irrigation, Disaster Management etc., and local MLA Bhabesh Kalita, besides many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, earlier, while on his way to the programme venue at Tulsibari through Rangiya town, Sonowal had to face members and workers of the AASU body staging their protest at Tiniali area of Rangiya and further at Tarani on the sides of the Rangiya-Bhutan road. The AASU members were later held by the police. The golden jubilee programme concluded today.
