GUWAHATI, Oct 25 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announced that the Government would award Rs 3 lakh to the next of kin of auto-rickshaw operator Brajen Rajbongshi for his daring act to resist some criminals in which he eventually embraced death in an incident that took place in the Chatribari area of the city on October 19 last.
The Chief Minister also announced that the wife of the deceased would be given suitable employment in Government service, said an official press release here.
The 98-year-old Sanatan Dharma Sabha (Harisabha), Panbazar has announced a token assistance of Rs 5,000 to the next of kin of Rajbongshi and requested the other puja committees of the city to come forward with assistance to the bereaved members of the family, said Ajoy Dutta, working president of the Sanatan Dharma Sabha.
