City school observes �Sahitya Divas�

GUWAHATI, April 30 - In order to pay tribute to all the literary icons of Assamese literature, Assam Jatiya Bidyalay in collaboration with its literary cell �Rasaraj Sahitya Chora�, today observed �Sahitya Divas� on the school premises.

On the occasion, a wall magazine � Kakatar Topola � was released by the school�s rector Ranjit Narayan Deka. This was followed by a very fruitful and inspiring lecture by the chief guest of the programme and noted poet Jivan Narah, said a press release issued here this evening.

Narah highlighted the richness of Assamese language. He encouraged the students to collect gems from world literature with the help of their mother tongue, which he said will strengthen the Assamese language.

At the function, winners of different State-level literary competitions were awarded.

Among the four judges of these competitions, Dr Dharani Lahan and Juri Barua were present and spoke a few inspiring words addressing the participants.

Juri Barua presented a close analysis of the writing of the participants on the topic �The Challenges and Possibilities of Assamese Motion Picture�.

Dr Dharani Lahan expressed his opinion on the book reviews submitted by the student participants of classes VII and VIII on Moro Eta Sapon Ase by Dr Rubul Maut and Saudar Puteke Nao Meli Jai by Homen Borgohain.

The academic officer of the school Narendra Mohan Goswami delivered a speech on the topic �Sanskrit Literature and Kalidasa� in which he mentioned the magnificence of Sanskrit literature and its influence on other Indian languages.
