City Police team in Delhi on Madani issue

NEW DELHI, Nov 17 - A Guwahati City Police team, led by ACP Pranjal Bora, reached here today in connection with the controversial statement made at a seminar on NRC at the Constitution Club held on Monday.

The City Police team, which included Investigation Officer of the case CR Buragohain, is likely to question DACA office-bearers and Jamiat-Ulama-e-Hind office-bearers, which booked the Speaker�s Hall of the Constitution Club of India, said sources.

The team may also question Jamiat president Maulana Arshad Madani, as cases have been registered against him.

The Assam Police had on Wednesday registered three cases against Madani for allegedly making inflammatory statements, inciting a particular community on the NRC update process.

Our Staff Reporter adds: With at least three cases registered in the State over the meeting organised by the Delhi Action Committee for Assam, police today took the statement of journalist Manjit Mahanta at Fatasil Ambari Police Station.

Separate cases have been filed against the controversial meeting at Fatasil Ambari, Basistha and Golaghat police stations.
