City hospital to begin course on burn nursing

GUWAHATI, May 13 - Burn Care Foundation (BCF), a social unit of NEMCARE Hospital has designed a week-long course on burn nursing, where both theoretical and hands-on training on burns will be imparted in a systematic way.

According to a press release, the inaugural session of the national-level burn nursing course was held at NEMCARE Hospital here today. Hanif Nurani, Assistant Mission Director, Assam Skill Development Mission inaugurated the course. BCF, engaged in development of burn care in the NE states since its inception, has been providing quality care to burn victims.

The course, conceptualised by Dr BP Sarma, senior consultant burn surgeon and secretary BCF, and designed and implemented by IL&FS Skills, New Delhi, has been approved by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). It will be a regular training course for burn nurses to be organised quarterly every year. BCF plans to organise this course in different parts of the country in the near future.
