IMPHAL, April 21 � A five- year-old boy was killed and five other people were injured as a hailstorm accompanied by high velocity wind lashed most parts of Manipur on Tuesday destroying hundreds of houses and structures apart from uprooting trees and electric poles.
The boy Tongbram Bidheshwor (5), of Kairenphabi Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur district died inside his house which collapsed during the storm yesterday morning, sources said.
Parents of the boy and his grandmother also sustained injuries in the incident. Two other children of Kumbi Santapur sustained injuries when their school, Oriental English School, they were studying in, was damaged in the storm.
Areas under Kumbi Assembly constituency in Bishnupur district was badly affected due to the impact of the hailstorm damaging about 700 houses.
