Cheques to kin of deceased in city flood

GUWAHATI, June 15 - The Kamrup (M) district administration today handed over cheques of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the people who lost their lives during Tuesday�s flash flood in Guwahati.

Bilas Kalita, father of Pushan Kalita, who died due to electrocution near the State Zoo was given the cheque by district administration officials. Priti Rajkhowa, wife of Anowar Hussain of Gandhibasti, who died in the same incident, and Charu Prabha Devi Nath, wife of Deven Chandra Nath who died after falling into the Silsako Beel, were also given cheques.

The district administration has also arranged for sending the cheque to the family of Pintu Das of Dibrugarh, who lost his life in Tuesday�s deluge here.

The administration has also advised people to walk in the middle of the roads and avoid walking on footpaths, drive slowly and be fully aware of any drains, pits etc., before walking on the waterlogged roads.

People can call the control room of DC Kamrup (M) at 1077 and 0361-2733052, police at 100 and fire service at 108 for help in the wake of any disaster.
