GUWAHATI, Aug 12 - State Transport Minister Ajit Singh today informed the State Assembly that the revenue collection from the check gates has gone down in recent years following Supreme Court�s ban on over-loading of transport vehicles and coal mining.
Replying to a question by MLA Abdur Rahim Khan (AIUDF), who also demanded a high-level probe into large-scale tax exemption, the Minister said that the State government has been keeping a close eye on it and that the officials designated in the check gates are �working hard�.
