GUWAHATI, Dec 15 - Various organisations including AASU today appealed to the people of Chandrapur area to boycott the Tiwa Autonomous Council election to be held on December 17.

They made the appeal after the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (M) district Biswajit Pegu on the demand to exclude the villages Hajongbari, Tatimara, Thakurkuchi, Niz-Panbari, Misamari and Khangkar of the area from the purview of the Tiwa Autonomous Council election remained inconclusive.

DC Pegu during the discussion today made it clear that the election will be held as per the directives and there will not be any point of exclusion of the villages mentioned.

Earlier on Monday, the people of Chandrapur area blocked the State Highway 3 for several hours in support of their demand to exclude the villages which have no Tiwa population from the purview of the election. Pegu had invited the people for a discussion today.
