Chalo Loku fest celebrated with gaiety

ITANAGAR, Nov 25 - Chalo Loku, the main agricultural festival of the Nocte community of Arunachal Pradesh, was today celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety at Deomali in Tirap district.

While attending the festival as chief guest, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein lauded the Nocte community for keeping their rich culture and traditions alive.

State BJP president Tapir Gao while praising the people for participating in huge numbers, said that religion and culture are two different facets, which should not be mixed.

Earlier, the chief guest participated in the log drum (Thum) beating and a festival ritual at Rangsom Hum. Other attractions of the festival were mega dance, bamboo dance and Nocte modern dance.

On the occasion, Arunachal Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu also greeted the members of the Nocte community.
