BORDUMSA, Nov 2 - A 23-year-old mother named Robina Chakma gave birth to triplets vide normal delivery at around 3.30 am at her own residence at Dharmapur 2 village under Miao Circle of Changlang district in eastern Arunachal Pradesh on Monday. Dharmapur village is located along the bank of the Noa-Dehing river at an approximate distance of around 84 km from Digboi and falls under Miao Assembly constituency in Changlang district.

Robina was pregnant for 9 months and was being cared for and constantly monitored by local ASHA worker of the village Susma Chakma amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. Talking to this Correspondent, Susma claimed the mother and babies to be safe and said that a male infant weighing 3 kg was delivered first, while a female baby weighing around 2.6 kg was the second and the youngest female infant weighing 1.8 kg was the third in the row to have brought smiles across the village with their birth. Robina already has a 4-year-old child, informed the ASHA worker.

On post-natal care and nutrition for the mother and the newborns, Susma said she had kept the concerned hospital posted about the entire situation.

Robina requires immediate medical attention. If by chance she becomes weak, it will affect breast-feeding, Susma forewarned. Sonography could not be done earlier because of financial constraints. As the husband often remains away from home due to work-related compulsions, the aged in-laws were taking care of their daughter during the pregnancy, the ASHA worker added.
