IMPHAL, Sept 21 - Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan today said that Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns would be opened in all districts of the North Eastern States as per availability of land.
The Union minister was speaking after the inauguration of a 4600-MT capacity food depot at Bishnupur, about 30 km south of Imphal, in Bishnupur district this morning.
Manipur Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Karam Shyam, Ravikant, Secretary to the Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ministry, FCI Chairman and Managing Director DV Prasad and Anurag Gupta, FCI Executive Director, North East Zone, also attended the inauguration function.
Paswan arrived here on Friday on a two-day visit to Manipur. Soon after his arrival, the Union minister chaired a review meeting on FCI operations.
