CBI team visits Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, Aug 10 � The team of the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) today visited several violence-hit areas in Kokrajhar district to probe the violent incidents in the BTAD districts.

The CBI team, accompanied by Shambu Singh, Joint Secretary, Home, reached Kokrajhar this morning and had meeting with senior police and civil administration officials of the BTAD areas, besides ADGP (Law and Order) AP Rao at the Kokrajhar Circuit House. The CBI team also interacted with the locals during its visit.

The CBI team visited Magurbari, Raniguli and Joypur areas of the district, which had witnessed incidents of firing. Magurbari is the area where four persons were shot dead on July 20, while three persons were shot dead by miscreants on August 6 by miscreants at Raniguli.

Talking to mediapersons here, Shambu Singh said, �We are looking at the pattern of violence and trying to find out whether there is any conspiracy behind it.� The investigating team will fly back to New Delhi later this evening and visits to Chirang and other affected areas will be made during their next visit. The agency is expected to take up a select number of cases, especially those where incidents of firing took place. The CBI team included Salem Ali, Special Director, CBI, Satish Kucha, Joint Director, CBI and Hiren Nath, DIG, CBI (Assam).
