Case registered in Manipur AG shooting

IMPHAL, March 10 (PTI): Police have registered a case in the shooting and injuring of Manipur Advocate General N Koteshwar. The case was registered at the Lamlai police station in Imphal East district of Manipur, police said.

It was filed under IPC Section 307, while Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisi's revolver which went off accidentally when the AG, Thasi and Works Minister K Ranjit were returning from a function in Ukhrul district on Saturday, was seized.

Several organisations, including the All Manipur Bar Association, have demanded a judicial or CBI inquiry into the shooting.

Meanwhile, Koteshwar, who was recovering after a bullet from his chest was removed, might be released from the hospital soon, hospital sources said.

Governor Gurbachan Jagat visited him in the hospital to wish him a speedy recovery, a Raj Bhavan statement said.
