DHUBRI, Oct 6 - A police case has been filed against a mob that shaved the head and harassed a woman named Ronesha Bibi for not agreeing to the wedding of her minor child. The case was filed at Golokganj Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code by relatives of the woman from Boterhat village who was harassed on October 2. Investigation is still on.
11 arrested for running gambling centres: As many as 11 people were arrested in a raid against teer and gambling at various places in Dhubri and Gauripur, led by DSP Nirupam Hazarika and DSP Trinayan Bhuyan.
The raids were conducted at illegal teer and gambling counters at Bidyapara and Boter Tol railway crossing area of Dhubri town, and at Chowrangimor area in Gauripur. A huge quantity of teer tickets and cash were seized.
