TURA, Aug 31 The students of the Tura Government College held a candlelight vigil on Friday evening for peace in the Garo Hills region. More than 400 students of the College also prayed for peace.

This is a spontaneous act of the students and not called by the students union. We want to show everyone that we want peace and hope that militancy will end and things can get back on track, said Lyiend R Marak, a student of the college.

Random killings, murder, extortion, etc., are just driving us backwards, said Tapseng Sangma, another student.
