Campaign to beautify, cleanse city

GUWAHATI, June 27 - An ambitious programme titled �Parichhanna Guwahati� will be launched under the auspices of Kala Sainik, a socio-cultural organisation of Panjabari, in collaboration with a few socio-cultural organisations of the greater Panjabari area.

The programme, which aims at beautifying and cleansing the city through plantation, sewerage and drainage and generating a new culture to keep the gateways and roads free from garbage, will cover Panikhaiti in the east, Borjhar in the west, Jorabat in the south and the Brahmaputra in the north.

Kala Sainik, which proposes to launch the campaign on August 15, has convened a meeting of the local organisations of Panjabari at the Panjabari Senior Citizens� Association office at 5.30 pm tomorrow.
