Call to deposit arms, ammo

DIBRUGARH, March 2 - In view of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, the district magistrate here on Thursday ordered certain restrictions on possession of arms and ammunition during the notified period of election so as to ensure free and fair conduct of polls in the district.

All the arms licence holders in the district have been asked to deposit their arms and ammunition in their nearest police stations with immediate effect failing which necessary action will be taken against the defaulters as per provisions of the Arms Act, 1959, a release stated.

The surrendered arms and ammunition will be released only after the notified period of elections, the release added.
