By-polls in 3 Sikkim constituencies

GANGTOK, Sept 21 - By-elections to the Gangtok, Martam Rumtek and Poklok Kamrang constituencies in Sikkim will be held on October 21 along with scheduled by-polls in other States of the country. The counting of votes will take place on October 24, announced the Election Commission of India today.

The model code of conduct came into immediate effect in the South and East districts of the Himalayan State today.

The three constituencies fell vacant after BJP MLA DT Lepcha vacated the Martam Rumtek seat, former Chief Minister and SDF supremo Pawan Chamling vacated Poklok Kamrang after winning from two seats and SKM leader and minister KN Lepcha vacated Gangtok after winning from two seats too.
