GUWAHATI, Sept 19 - Bulbul Can Sing, the third cinematic venture of National Award-winning filmmaker Rima Das, will hit the screen across the State on Friday.
The film, which will be released across the country on September 27, has already earned immense critical acclaim across the globe. It received the National Award for the Best Feature Film in Assamese at the 66th National Film Awards.
Bulbul Can Sing is a story about a teenage girl named Bulbul, who, living in a village in Assam, challenges traditional value systems and expectations of her family. Fighting her means through love and the losses she suffers, she finally figures out who she really is.
The cast of the film includes Arnali Das, Bonita Thakuriya, Manoranjan Das, Manabendra Das and Pakija Begum.
The film has so far been screened at 40 film festivals across the world, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival, bagging 13 awards. It also won the Best Indie Film award at the recent Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.
Rima shot to international fame with Village Rockstars, an Assamese language film which won the National Award for the Best Moving Picture last year. It was also India�s official entry to the Oscars.
