Budget pro-poor: APCC

GUWAHATI, March 10 � The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has described the State Budget presented by the Chief Minister in the State Assembly here today as a �pro-poor and progressive.� The Budget has also proposed steps to employ a huge number of unemployed youths and to empower women in a significant manner.

The Budget will play a vital role in the all-round development of the State and in alleviating poverty, said the APCC in a statement signed by its Media and IT Department in-charge Ripun Bora.

On the other hand, the Sadou Asom Goria-Moria Deshi Jatiya Parishad today burnt the copies of the State Budget, alleging it to be deceitful for the Goria-Moria Deshi ethnic group.
