Bodousa Cup to be played in 10 venues

GUWAHATI, Sept 20 - The 11th Bodousa Cup Football Tournament organised by Tinsukia-based Bodousa Sports Club will be played in 10 venues across the State. The tournament will begin on September 22.

Informing about the championship, Bodousa Sports Club president Arunjyoti Moran said that the matches will be played at Tinsukia, Duliajan, Digboi, Kothalguri, Margherita, Diphu, Doomdooma, Changsari, Ghagrapar and Bihpuria. The preliminary matches will be played in league basis and eight top teams in the group stage will qualify for the main round. I-League teams including the likes of Gokulam Kerala FC; Minerva Punjab FC and TRAU FC, Manipur among others are placed in the main draw which will start on September 27. Teams like CRPF, Jalandhar; Oil India FC, Duliajan; NISA, Manipur; BSF, Jalandhar and ARC, Shillong are the other notable teams which will be in action in the championship. The final is slated for October 4 at Tinsukia.

Arunjyoti Moran revealed that the top four teams will be awarded Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively along with trophies. The organisers will also provide cash awards to best player of the final, best goalkeeper, highest scorers, among others.

Organising president MP Pradan Baruah, working president Lakhya Konwar assured all possible help for the smooth conduct of the championship. Baruah said that the tournament will help in developing the standard of the game in the State as it will be organised in various places of the State.
