Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, OCT 23: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Duliajan constituency Terash Gowala has reportedly resigned from the post of the Member of Assam Legislative Assembly, a day after the State Government appointed chairpersons of various State Government companies and corporations. As many as 10 MLAs were among those appointed chairpersons of the companies and corporations.

Gowala was apparently livid for not being able to make the cut.

The Duliajan lawmaker submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

It is still not clear whether he has also resigned from the primary membership of the party, a party spokesperson said. Gowala, however, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
