BJP hits back at Yechury

AGARTALA, July 9 - The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has strongly refuted CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechurys statement of total lawlessness in Tripura under the new regime.

Yechurys statement was absolutely false, fabricated and malicious to downgrade the States image. Peace prevails in the State and the new government has decided to show zero tolerance to crime, said partys general secretary Pritima Bhowmik at a press conference in the party headquarters here on Monday.

Reacting to the killing of four comrades in the post-poll violence, Bhowmik said people had witnessed worst ever violence after Assembly elections in 2009 and 2013. At least 11 BJP activists were killed before 2018 Assembly elections. There is no political murder in the State during past four months, Bhowmik claimed.

Referring to the murder of Tapan Sutradhar, a CPI(M) leader in Unakoti district, Bhowmik said the murder was not politically motivated. The suspected killer Satish Namasudra was a business partner of the deceased CPM leader, she pointed out.
