GUWAHATI, Nov 28 � I Ibobi Singh of Manipur Press Club clinched double crown in the inter-media table tennis championship of North East Media Sports Festival.
In the Arobondo Buragohain Trophy Badminton Championship, Bikramjir Singh, also of Manipur, won double crown winning the single and team titles.
In the badminton finals at the Kanaklata Indoor Stadium today, Manipur PC, comprising of Ibobi and Bikramjit, defeated Dainik Janambhumi 2-0 in the team event final while in the open singles Bikramjit beat his teammate Ibobi Singh 15-9, 15-5 for the title.
In table tennis, Ibobi defeated Bikashjyoti Das of G Plus 11-8, 11-6. In the team event, Manipur PC got the better of DDK 2-0.
In the women�s category, Sonia Devi of Manipur PC won the title defeating Smriti Rekha Kalita of NETV 11-8, 11-6 in the final.
The table tennis championship was inaugurated by international players Carfew Roy and Gautam Hazarika.
The Harendra Nath Baruah Trophy Football Championship also began at the SAI ground today. G Plus entered the semifinal stage defeating UB Photos 1-0. The football tournament was formally inaugurated by former international footballer Debashis Roy.
